Dr. Jane Coates, is from Flin Flon, Manitoba, received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1988. Upon graduation, she moved to Cobourg. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. Dr. Coates is married and has two daughters. She has volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada as a leader for the Camborne Brownies, Guides, and Pathfinders. She plays the bag pipes and enjoys dragon boating, kayaking and travelling.
Dr. Kerri Winger graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2009 following the completion of her Honours Bachelor of Science degree. She completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at the John Dingall Veterans Medical Centre in Detroit, Michigan. This gave her valuable experience caring for patients with a wide range of ocular diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disorders. Dr. Winger joined the practice in 2010 and became a partner in 2016. She is a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Association of Optometrists. She grew up in Stratford, Ontario and moved to Cobourg soon after graduation. She practices full-scope optometry and welcomes new and returning patients of all ages. She enjoys disc golf, crafting and spending time with her husband and children.
Dr. Melissa Robinson was born and raised in Northumberland Country but has lived and studied in many areas before joining our practice in May 2021. She completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours at Queens University with a specialization in Life Sciences. She then went on to pursue a Master’s of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy at McMaster University. After working for two years as an occupational therapist, her experience working with older adults especially those with conditions impacting vision, sparked her interest in learning more about vision and how conditions impacting vision can be managed. With this new interest she decided that she was not quite done with school just yet and went back to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2021. Third time’s the charm. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. Dr. Robinson is a quiet book worm, outdoor adventurer, competitive board game player, goofy dancer, and creative crafter. She likes to take on new challenges and has a varied bucket list including sky diving, learning to play guitar and running a half-marathon.
